The Bild newspaper reported Saturday that Hans-Hilger Ropers, director at Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin, has tested a pill thwarting hyperactivity in certain brain nerve cells, helping stabilize short-term memory and improve attentiveness. The pill has been tested on fruit flies and mice.

Professor Ropers: „Bei Mäusen und Fruchtfliegen konnte man den Gedächtnisverlust schon beheben.“ Wie funktioniert das Mittel? Das neue Medikament stoppt die Überaktivität bestimmter Nervenzellen im Gehirn. Dadurch wird vor allem das Kurzzeitgedächtnis stabilisiert (steuert u. a. Aufmerksamkeit).

US-Pharmafirmen wollen das Mittel nächstes Jahr auf den Markt bringen.

This 3150 m long tunnel in Russia is the longest in-city tunnel of Europe. There is a river running over it and water leaks at some points. When the temperature reaches -38 degrees like it did this winter, the road freezes and the result is the attached video taken during a single day with the tunnel camera.

Law enforcement were eating at a Sweet Tomatoes resturant when they saw a man with a rifle forcing a woman into a car. This led on to a car chase where when the rammed the mans vehicle and surrounded it with police cars was the woman able to escape. Sitting in the car people tried to get the man to come out peacfully. After awhile the swat team arrived. Several hours of this ensued, and at 2:58 PM, a SWAT Sniper Tactical Assassin shot the man.
